GUIDING YOU THROUGH
LA’S BEST RECORD SHOPS
RECORD SHOPS, PREVIOUSLY ON THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION, ARE NOTABLY BACK ON THE RISE, AND LA’S SCENE IS NO EXCEPTION.
While the days of digging through crates of records (and celebrity spotting) at the world-famous Tower Records on the Sunset Strip are a distant memory, new, independent retailers are sprouting up in neighborhoods all around Los Angeles, while legendary and long-standing indie shops like Amoeba Music have held strong through the decline of CD sales over the years. So where to go on your next visit through LA? Here’s our top picks of where to grab yourself a new (or old) twelve-inch.
AMOEBA MUSIC
If you’ve heard of Amoeba, it’s no surprise, as it’s known to be a record Mecca. This is, hands down, the most well-known record shop in Hollywood and carries one of the most extensive collections of music in the world, not just Southern California. Rightfully known as a landmark, Amoeba has over 250,000 titles in their store.

DANK TIP: Rumors are swirling that this location is closing within the next couple of years. Get there while you can.
